  1. i have a bunch of tapes i captured to my pc using a dazzle 150 and dvxcel.exe.
i just need a few pieces from each recording.
so far i have yet to find a tool that will let me cut sections out from the video files fast and keep sound.
tmpgenc will leave the sound out if i cut a section of video.
the only way i can cut a video clip and have sound is to do this

    1. use tmpgencs simple de-multiplex and split my captured file to a .m2v and a .wav
    2. then use ffmpeg and convert the .wav to a mp2.
    3. after that use tmpgencs simple multiplex to rejoin the mv2 and the mp2.
    4. now i can cut section of video and still have sound with tmpgenc.

what a pain in the ass....GRrr

is there a one step program that will cut, split, merge mpeg2 video streams with lpcm audio?
or maybe a one step program that will just re-encode the audio in the video stream to mp2 audio or some other commonly support format?

You could try VideoRedo and/or MPEG-VCR

Both are considered "the best" for MPEG editing.

I do know they will edit MPEG files with muxed MP2 and AC3 but not sure about LPCM but if any program can it would be one if not both of these.

Worse case scenerio would be to demux the original MPEG file ... convert the LPCM audio to AC3 format ... then remux and edit that. You have been doing that now but using MP2 instead of AC3 yet AC3 will give better quality than MP2 will. For regular 2 channel mono/stereo audio I would suggest 256kbps for AC3 or 384kbps for MP2. 384kbps is the highest bitrate you can use with MP2 yet 256kbps AC-3 sounds better and takes up a bit less room.

BTW how did you get a MPEG file with muxed LPCM audio? You aren't really supposed to be able to do that?

the dazzle 150 only captures the audio as LPCM.
