  1. if I only knew what the price of the upcoming HD writers would be.

I need to replace my current Pioneer 105, as its dieing. I am considering the pioneer 110 right now, but also, I'm considering waiting until the BR/HD drives are available. Damn rotten timing!

Which should I do? buy now? or wait?

Get another DVD Writer. If BR or HD drives do come out whenever that is, its going to be damn expensive.

Its rumoured that first generation drives wont be capable of writing to DVD and CDs, which is planned in the second generation drives at a later stage.

Buy the DVD writer, they are inexpensive and work. You may be waiting a long time for BR and or HD to be mainstream.

  5. For all they cost (£30), why wait?

I would consider options other than Pioneer though.

Personally, I have always sworn by Pioneer from my first 104 through to the 108. Unfortunately, the 109 I currently have seems to be a bit less reliable with varying media types, irrespective of firmware upgrades, unlike the NEC 4550 I have in a standalone duplicator (burns anything @ max speeds)

    Just my opinion...

If you do wait for BR/HD DVD, expect to pay around $500 when they are released. (The price is now official).
