I'm looking for an inexpensive laptop. Anyone know where I can get a good refurb or barebones unit? I'll put a little more into it if I can build what I want into it. No gaming on this machine. I've checked out Retrobox but their units cost as much as some refurbs I've seen and have far more problems listed.

Techbargains had a pretty cheap but nice one the other day. I suggest keeping an eye on that site. I seem them every few weeks. Talking like under $800 for something actually pretty nice.

THere are still some Black Friday special laptops for sale there. -
I'm seeing quite a few refurbed IBM T22s around for under $400 now complete with Win2000 and memory upgrade. I'm keeping my eye on those for now.

Maybe if you buy from scammys but I've had some good luck with Ebay. You certainly can't beat the prices and as long as you keep an eye on the sellers ratings you should be alright. Make sure to read what others have to say about the seller too. Most sellers of tech equipment are businesses. They aren't looking to rip you off. They're looking for repeat customers.
