After having searched through the vast resources of the Video Help forum archive, I still haven't been able to find the answer to my question, so perhaps someone can help. I've been having trouble buring DVD+R DL discs with my Philips DVD8631, and so I want to try upgrading my drive's firmware. From what I've gathered, the GD30 firmware is the latest version for my drive, so I downloaded the firmware upgrade .exe file from Dell. However, when I run the program, my DVD8631 drive doesn't even appear in the Flash Tool's list of devices - all I see are "Samsung CD-R/RW SW-252S R902" (presumably my CD drive) and "AXV CD/DVD-ROM 2.2a". I thought that the AXV might be my DVD drive showing up under a different name for some reason, but when I select that drive and try running the upgrade, I get the "The drive is not allowed to be upgraded." message. That said, any ideas as to what I need to do in order to make my DVD8631 appear in the list of devices?
Thanks!

That's a Benq 1620 - best results would be crossflashing to B7W9 firmware. Go to this link:

search on "8631" and you should see how to crossflash. Very easy using BQFlash. Good luck.
