    Hi im pretty new to all this so i wonder if anyone could recommend a good codec pack to download which enables me to play all sorts of movies ,xvid, div3 etc on my pc and on dvds without any green screen and no sund issues.

    avoid codec packs. if you want something that plays everything use videolan.

    Just to add 'some' codec packs can be the cause of green screens and sound issues.

    If you have a unknown video file, drop it into a program like Gspot and it will tell you the codec you need. Install that one and only that one and you should not have any problems.

    If you have a bunch of interfering codecs they are a lot harder to remove than install. A program like DXMan or Codec Sniper are good for managing problem codecs.
