After Effets ???

Hey I was wondering what exactly is after effects is it something you use after you edit your project what can it do that premiere cant do ( that's probably an dumb Question) like can some one give me and example and is it worth the money show some pics if you can or videos .

After Effects is just that, you can add special effects to a project like fading in text to a video or to add special effects to a still picture. For instance I took a still image of a flag and animated it waving in after effects. The nice thing is you can flip between AE and photoshop or Encore and back again. it is a very nice program but also complicated to learn, but there are endless possibilities with it...

Think of AfterEffects as falling between realtime editing (or short duration rendering filters) and full up 3D animation.

Aftereffects is a bag of tricks designed for 3D looking segments without the days to weeks of ground up modeling, texture mapping and animation needed for high end CGI.

Expect a steep learning curve to get anything useful.

Is it like something you use after premiere can I go back and forth with it from premiere to after effects thanks again

Aftereffects is usually used to enhance short segments of a Premiere timeline.

Well here is a short clip of a football intro I did a few years ago with AE 5.5 and Photoshop:

fb.wmv (1.6 mb)

Though it looks a little complex, it was reletively easy to make. For the record, you should be able to create the same effect with Premiere Pro or Wax2 (free), but I would say that AE makes the job easier. Weather it's worth the money depends on how much you need it.
