  1. I'm getting a "Data Error: (cyclic redundancy check)" when trying to copy an avi from a CD i burn to my HD.

the odd thing is, although it takes unusually long to load, it can still be played from the CD with no visual errors.

how can i go about copying it to my HD? is there a workaround for this error?

    EDIT:
i tried to do a "Save As" from media player classic, and while it did not copy entirely it showed me at which point it got caught (500296 KB / 717436 KB)

    what now?

You will need a copier that can ignore such errors. Or clean the CD and try again.

  3. try making an iso image and then extact the file from the iso (set read options to "ignore read errors")

  5. IsoBuster does a good job of extracting data from bad discs.
