they claim that they can fix bad frames and all, but when i used it..it didnt work at all...lol

I'm not sure which one you mean. There are several with that title. Most of them rewrite the index file on a AVI and others just cut out corrupted frames. None of them, AFAIK, really 'fix' a corrupted file completely.
If you have a AVI, Virtualdub does about as good as any. It can find errors and rewrite the index. You have to manually cut out errors, though.
If you have a really messed up MPEG, I haven't seen much of any way to really fix them.
