New to the DVD world here. I've been reading articles and searching forums for a week or two now and am ready to post my own question. Basically I just want to know if my workflow will work. I want DVD's that will play on most standard DVD players. Super duper quality not needed, although noticeably poor quality wont do either. My main stumbling block has been finding a capture software that can transfer .VRO files to .AVI or MPEG2. So here's my workflow:

Video Camera: Panasonic VDR-M70, uses DVD-RAM discs and I don't have a DVD-RAM drive, so movies get to the computer through USB.
Capture: FlaskMpeg, the only software I could find that would convert VRO files. Read some poor reviews but I think those were of older versions.
Editing: not required, does that mean I should encode straight to MPEG2 using FlaskMpeg?
Encoding & Authoring: Sonic MyDvd, looking for anyone with good or bad things to say about it. Seems like a lot of people like TMPGEnc, so I would consider using it if MyDvd is no good.

That's all there is to it right? I know it wont be that easy... so any suggestions you could give would be great! Like are there any settings I should be particularly aware of in any of the programs mentioned? Thanks!

I had a funny feeling that TMPGEnc DVD Author could import VRO ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Would my workflow be made easier if I just got a dvd drive that is capable of reading DVD-RAM disks and used the DVD Movie Album SE that came with the camera?? My current dvd drive is an ASUS E616P and as far as I can tell cannot read RAM disks. Thanks!
