  1. I have a Sony DVP-NS715 DVD player and just put it in a new entertainment center. Now, when I play movies, the picture will freeze, but the counter will continue to run. If I stop the movie, and then start again, it runs fine for a few more minutes. It's happening on all my DVDs, even brand new just bought ones, so I've ruled out bad discs. I did notice that with all the components in there, it is rather warm. Could the unit be freezing cause of heat? Any ideas?

    thanks in advance

it sounds like an oxymoron doesn't it?

When I started reading this post i immediately began thinking heat issue and then you mentioned it later on. Your components need either A) room to dissipate the heat passively or B) An active cooling system.

If you simply can't move the dvd player to a more open area you might want to get some type of cooling fan to exhaust the hot air away from the dvd player. If you can just blow the "cold" air over the vents of the dvd player or turn the fan so it sucks the hot air into a more open area it should take the hot air away and allow the heat inside the dvd player to rise up and be taken away as well....

i had some heating issues with an old apex dvd player which caused my movies to skip..i cracked it open, drilled some holes in the side and installed a hard drive cooler right over the A/V DAC's and took care of the problem right away...I'm sure you will prefer one of the first 2 options, however...
