I tried that but the ac3 file created was unplayable. I will go for manual route i.e. convert to wav then to ac3.

Should be possible, but doesn't AC3Enc that ffmpeg comes with come with a simple commandline encoder? On second thought I think that it is maybe liba52 that comes with a simple command line decoder.

    celtic_druid, Thanks.

Running short of time in ompiling my photo slides and videos from my recent vacation.

This issue is more of a CDEX passing the right parameters to ffmpeg. Somehow, I just couldn't get it right.

Will give another crack at it when I have time.

Try EAC. From recollection input is %s so ffmpeg.exe -i %s, output is %d.
