If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0

it's from 2001 and I saw it when it came out and it was a test. The full review is here if anyone is interested

brings back memories as that was back in the days I was an overclocker and tried to squeeze every bit outta my PC -
Does anyone know of a similar review with current processors?
I don't see anything wrong with it. How many people actively check on the status of the cpu cooler and actively check to make sure their computers are dust free?? Okay - most here probably do... But what about the majority of average users that stick a computer in the corner, right up against a wall, over top of a heat register and leave it for three years... -
So the PIII froze at 38 deg C? I don't buy it.
Also, notice that the AMD CPU was already scorched when they had just pulled the cooler off it?
As well as that, the game sped right back up as soon as the cooler touched it - no way did the CPU cool off that quickly. -
The fan on the cooler wasnt even running on the first tested pentium. it does seem to be somewhat bogus. anybody want to do their own tests.

they're not trying to promote or run down anybody.
simply showing you a factual representation of what happens to various processors when the heatsink is removed.
AMD processors run hot as hell. It's not a problem if you have proper cooling though. It's also fairly common knowledge....
b1tchm4gn3t , are you planning to take your PC apart anytime soon in order to run an incredibly processor intensive game while you remove the heatsink from your CPU?
If so, please remember to put your heat measurement device MUCH closer to the AMD processor than you do to the Intel processor (as they do in the video).
There are too many questionable elements to that video to list.

ok..now we are getting somewhere...I was waiting for responses like the last few to see if people thought the same as me about the ways they tested them.

Just wait till carbon processors start showing off in the next 5 years. PCs running at 5GHz+ speeds with FSB clocking also in the GHz range. All this without a fan and barely heating up. The technology is out there already. They just hadn't had much research into making commercial retail processors for very long. Intel is looking more heavily into it.
That'll also revolutionize RAM and flash drive technology.
BTW - that video is total S**T! (didn't want to totally threadjack)
