Can anyone tell me what the best piece of software is to use for converting avi's to dvd (vob) format for playing in any dvd player?
I have tried dvd santa which is not bad although the dvd plays with a very very slight pausing right through the film which most people didn't notice although I did as I am a fussy b*****d!!
I have also tried divx to dvd which is similar to santa, but there must be better software out there than these 2 for this task.
    any help would be great!
    Cheers

Just my opinion, but DVD Santa doesn't even make it to a list of 'Fair' converters. DivxToDVD is my favorite for a 'All in One', but only for convenience, not top quality.

The better way is individual tools to do those type of conversions. A dedicated encoder, like TMPGEnc, CCE or others. A authoring program like TMPGEnc DVD Author or others. I use ffmpeggui for conversion to AC3 audio. Takes some reading, but there are plenty of guides to the left for all this. <<<<<

http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm is my preferred method, but like redwudz, DivxToDVD does the job well IMO for the quick n dirty jobs.

If you're a fussy bastard, then I don't think all-in-ones will give you the results you desire.
    If in doubt, Google it.
