    i have seen these 2 dvd recorders on sale.would like to get opinions on which one would be a better buy,or just recommend some good dvd recorders.

    Although I love my old Philips....I would NOT buy another one. They seem to have done well with the quaity issues on newer models but you need to jump through hoops to get it to work.
    The 77 is an old and outdated machine...I'd steer clear of that one....along with the 75 and the 985(which is what I have but it has been ultra reliable...BUT I got lucky)...
