    I have a 4:3 (640x480) AVI and i want to convert it to a 16:9 AVI. Is this possible and does anyone know how to di it? please help. thanks.

    It can, but I don't see the point. Either you will distort the picture, or you will have to crop alot of the picture out. What is your source and what is your goal in converting?

    i am converting anime. i want to make it 16:9 because i want to watch them on a widescreen tv.

    The widescreen TV should properly display 4:3 material by adding black bars on both sides. If you want to fill the screen from side to side, then as I said before, the picture will either have to be distorted and make everything look extremely wide, or the top and bottom of the picture will have to be cut off, thus losing much of the content. The procedure is different depending on which result you want to end up with.

    Or you can add the black bars yourself and still keep the aspect ratio of the image correct. However, as was pointed out, you are better off letting your TV do this for you. Just author as 4:3.
