Hi!
I have creative radeon graphics card. I had 2 other radeon 9000s. I've tried playing divxs but mostly DVDs off the hard drive on all three of them. I'm not happy with the picture or sound. My Tv is widescreen now but used to be 4:3. On both tvs no matter what the graphic card resolution is, the picture is not 'centred and fixed'. I have to move the mouse in order for it to be 'sort of centred'. No matter what I do I still get the picture cropped especially from the sides. Suggestions please!
Which cards have excellent TV-OUT? or do all cards suffer this sort of problem. I'm hoping to make a small dedicated TV-OUT pc/base unit to watch files from hard drive on the TV. For this I was considering the Hollywood Real X card. How is this card? I'm in UK so have'nt heard anything from anyone about it or seen it being used.
Thanks in advance!

Put your Radeon cards into Theater Mode. Then enable or disable Overscan as you see fit.

Most cards are like that. The video driver software for nVidia and ATI cards have sections for adjusting the video output. It works the same as attaching another monitor. Each screen/monitor has to be adjusted to fit your video properly on the screen and any given resolution. You may also need to adjust your refresh rate. Changing the refresh rate can move the picture on the screen.

Hi!
Thank you very much, both of you. Your replies have helped me a lot. After changing just a few settings such as overlay and theater mode, the difference is astounding. The picture quality and sound is just amazing now. However, now when I boot up the initial screens are all squished and in an odd resolution. It's not that much of a big deal. Just need one more little favour.
Can one of you guys please point me to a website or forum which has all the SETTINGS/OPTIONS explained. If not all atleast some of the basic options. I would like to know the potential of this card and how to configure my monitor and TV both properly.
Once again, thanks for your replies. -
The startup screens will always have a strange looking resolution. They are generated by the computer before Windows has loaded so no specific drivers for the graphic card have started up. These screens will be in a generic resolution which, depending on your card will be either 640 x 480 or 800 x 600.
Think about it, you can't change the settings for the startup screens in the software because the software hasn't been started yet. You can only change the settings once it has started and it sounds like you've got that sorted now.
