  1. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have a Canopus advc-100 connected via firewire to my computer. Trying to capture a VHS tape. No matter what app I use I can't get anything to see the Canopus. It's installed on my computer fine but I've tried Premire Pro, Main Concept MPEG Encoder, Virtual Dub, and nothing gives me any output on the preview screen. Tried several codecs too like Adaptec DV Soft and the Canopus DV codec. Have any ideas? Thanks.

  2. No go with WinDV. I've used it before in the past and it worked but this is the first time I've tried to pull stuff off my VCR. I'm thinking there is something up with the VCR at this point. I'll have to try a differnt device and see if I still get nothing. Thanks.

Is your firewire port from your motherboard or is it a pci firewire card? There have been reports of problems using the motherboard firewire port with the ADVC-100. Are you using the front connections or the backside? Try using the back VIDEO input.

You could try using the PANASONIC CODEC and SCENALYZER LIVE to capture.

  4. Wow... All I did was reseat the firewire cable on the back of the PC and now it works. I didn't even think to try that since the device was recognized on my PC. In any case it's working now... thanks.
