  1. I was looking through the tools section and I see that TyTool is able to take your recorded programs off of your tivo box. Could you help me get started with this? I recently got a Directv DVR with tivo. The model on it is "Directv DVR R10". I see that it has two USB ports on the back (no ethernet) but they are not labeled or mentioned in the instruction manual. How might I hook this DVR up to my computer so that I can transfer the recorded programs? I have an Ethernet Hub. Also would there be a software upgrade for my DVR, how would I got about doing that if I cannot access it until I upgrade the software? Also if the software upgrade didn't work, how could I restore it?

  2. Thanks, I made a post there and found out that my R10 model cannot be hooked up unless you take off the PROM chip and put on a new one

You can always cap it in real time off of the audio/video cables like a vcr. You won't get the same quality as a digital dump but it should be pretty good.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

That's what I have it setup to do now. Unfortuately like you said that is real time. This method if it were possible would be much much faster

I think the newest versions of the "full" non partnered TIVO boxes acutally let you do a file copy without hacking.

  6. Well I have one with Directv, which I really do need because first of all the service is a lot cheaper and also its integrated with the directv guide and system so it really helps. I hope that directv will come out with a model with a built in dvd burner soon!!
