  1. Thanks in advance for any help.

I can edit and create my videos in showbiz, and then encode them to avi or windows media files, but NOT to mpeg or dvd files. It goes through the motions as if it is encoding, but at the very end it doesn't actually create the video (there is no file created).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a few times now. I have tried converting different file types to mpeg and all give me the same problem. No output.

    Any ideas?

  2. Are you sure your version can do this? I had a Showbiz version that came bundled with MyDVD but the bundled version could not capture. It relied on MyDVD to capture and burn.

  3. I have no problem capturing from analog to mpeg format using the bundled myDVD software. The problem is when I take my clips and after doing all the editing etc., creating the NEW movie within Showbiz.

And yes, it is SUPPOSED to be able to do it. The option for it is there. When I press the "create movie" button, there are options for what format I want it to be encoded into.

mpeg1, mpeg2, dvd are options but when I select them they do not produce a file. If I select avi or windows media file, it DOES work.

  4. I suspect the problem is that the MyDVD captures you are working on with Showbiz are already mpegs so Showbiz will not convert mpeg to mpeg. If you feed Showbiz and avi ( like the ones you have created with Showbiz ) it probably will convert that to mpeg. Take your mpeg clips created with Showbiz and import them into MyDVD for creating your dvd instead.

  5. Thanks for trying to help. Appreciated.

I tried what you suggested. In Showbiz I opened up a small .avi file and tried to convert it to an mpeg file.

It goes through the motions as if it is encoding, but finally in the end there is no new file created. I searched my entire hard drive to see if for some reason it was storing them in some other location other than where I am telling it to, but no luck.
