I have a co-worker that would like to be able to take recorded show(s) from a DVD recorder recording (pioneer dvr633h?, 160gb version) and get them to a CD to listen in the car. Basically, she wants to take the audio from one of the music channels and put it to CD.
Though I'm familiar with DVDs and CDs in general, my guess is:
- Put DVD from DVD recorder in PC.
- Point demuxing software at DVD's VIDEO_TS folder and the created .VOBs.
- Create a .WAV of the audio.
- Chop up .WAV to fit on multiple CDs.
Things I don't know:
- What format, AC3, PCM or MP2 the audio is in from the DVD recorder.
Personally, and again not having done this before, I'd probably use DVD2AVI and simply keep the .WAV file. Still don't know what to use to chop up the .WAV into meaningful (700mb) pieces to make sure to get it all on CD.
Recommendations? Free is best.
PS: OK, it’s for me too but I won't be able to use my DVD recorder until Christmas....

imToo DVD Audio Ripper (not free, but really simple to use for this kind of conversion)
Else, rip audio stream with DVDDecrypter, convert to wav (from whatever format the audio happens to be - probably mp2), split and burn.
