  1. I haven't done enough testing to determine where it happens, but I've noticed a slight variance on several clips, and an all-out total loss whenever I drop a few frames. Is this a documented sync problem with specific ways to fix them or not? More prominent when capturing from tv as opposed to my Digital8 camcorder. Thanks....

  2. Maybe you need more info - I am running win98se, with a flawed install of MMC 7.1 (I say flawed because I had to uninstall a previous install of 6.3, and we all know that systems don't like that sort of thing!)

  3. if you are talking capturing to mpeg, then that is why I don't use MMC to capture, it is always out of sync.

  4. Audio out of sync with ATI cards is usually due to the sound card. You may need to get a different sound card or capture with AVI_IO. This program allows for a 500ms for the audio. This gets the sound back in sync. Unfortunately direct to mpeg capture will most likely need a different sound card. If using Virtual Dub under capture, settings, audio buffer size input 17640. What driver version are you using for the ATI card?

  5. If your using the ATI software to capture to AVI ill tell you what I do. Disconnect everything else from your USB and put your monitors resolution down (no effect on end result). Mine still is a little out of sync, but when i use TMPEnc to encode to VCD or SVCD it gets back into sync. I dont know why, but as long as its in sync, im not gonna ask questions.

  6. Hi all

This is an interresting thread. I have been in to hell and fire about this. To tell a long story short I neither have THE sollution and I'm NOT a
Guru, but I have some tip though...

My soundcard is a Diamond monster with the Aureal Vortex AU 8830 processor. I use the latest referencedrivers from Vortex. I presume this is a good soundcard. This can be a startingpoint....

I have a "rather crappy" Compaq 500 PIII. AND theres a win 98 install WITHOUT all compaq-crap drivers installed, involved (thanks to my weak but anyway -->knowledge).

Then we have to come to the pinpoint..... I have an old AIT AIW 16mb AGP1x, 2x for europe (PAL from 1999) which I bought used, for a reasonably amount of $

I use the ATI MMC 6.3 and have also tried the latest drivers that Ulead use for their product Videosudio 5.

When I use the inbuilt Ligos "gomotion" drivers for the live mpeg-captures everything is brilliant !! Both in quality and sync aspect. Also the TMPGEnc is ok. From the beginning nothing was in sync when I played it on my standalone Nintaus 9901 player, but Ok when I played it at the computer. I tried EVERYTHING without success.

Recently I downloaded Microsofts free WM7.1 player and encoder and maybe that was a change for my system that made it... ! From now on ALL my trials make good svcd's on my standalone /(Nintaus 9910N )

I never mentioned that all my (X)VCD's made it all before. i just have had the problems with the SVCD's....

Can anyone confirm about to install the MS media player and do a test ?

You know. .... I want dare to change my setting for now when Im at last sucseeded

    Cheers

  7. Another setting that is crucial is PCI latency - set this to zero. I don't seem to be having any more problems with sync, I just haven't had enough LONG captures to really test how the sync holds up. Things are working well though for me, I make XVCD's which play on my apex500w, set the bitrate to 2750000 with 100 motion estimation in 7.1 Video looks great, using next's hack nero recognizes the file, and things are looking great!
