    Hi,

I was hoping someone could tell me which app is best to rip a DVD with a number of eps on it e.g. series DVDs. I have a 6 disc series with two eps on it each, but Yade X only manages to recognise the video on each disc as a whole.

I'm sure there are other apps that have better recognition. I have MTR and 0seX...anyone able to say which one I should use and how to go about it? Thanks.

Also, the whole dual layered disc burning issue. My new iMac is arriving soon (built in dual layered burner)...I'm just curious, does having a dual layered DVD mean that when I burn REALLY large stuff to disc, it burns physically to BOTH sides of the disc, and that I have to swap sides halfway through when viewing or using? Also, am I required to take the DVD out halfway through to swap sides while burning?

MTR. Rip by title. Likely, the eps are one DVD 'title' each.

Dual layer is not dual side. You won't have to flip the disc. Both layers are accessed from the same side.

  3. surely it all depends on what you're doing with the files after you've ripped them?

Actually geek rock has a point. If you're just backing up to another DVD then you rip the whole disc. I do this often. However if you are encoding individual episodes (e.g. for an iPod or smartphone) then you don't rip the whole disc at once :P
