    It's still really early.
Pioneer and LG both have some available.

Get a BENQ 1640 drive! It's the best drive in the market right now. The price has gone up because of the popularity & reliability of the drive. BENQ has official frequent firmware upgrades to keep up with the newer dvd media. Check out Newegg.com and the BENQ forum at Cdfreaks.com.

Every dvd burner manufacturer will have their quality control problems/pros and cons just take a look at the other forums at Cdfreaks.com such as LG, PIONEER, PLEXTOR, SAMSUNG,LITEON/SONY, & NEC.

are you talking about dvd dl recorders for computers or standalone recorders? if you are talking about standalones then disregard my post and if not then check out cdfreaks.com. cdfreaks.com does have forums for standalone dvd recorders as well!

You guys may want to take note that this is about a STANDALONE DVD RECORDER and not a COMPUTER DVD BURNER.

Assuming the post was made in the correct forum to begin with.

edit: I see one person just caught himself.

I missed it as well. I wasn't even aware that they had standalone dual layer recorders out yet.....

  7. This Sony might be the cheapest in the US at $229.

If you happen to be in Australia, the cheapest might be an LG DR-7922W not available in the US. These are both +R DL which is supported by Sony and LG. Pioneer supports -R DL. The -R DL media is a bit more expensive at the moment.

I posted about them about a year ago, although they looked more like external dvd writers.

DL media is still pretty expensive.

No more than a VHS tape. About $2 each on sale.

The RCA 8060 is right around $200 and records on dual layer media. It also plays everything. It includes front USB too.
