    To my knowledge I know there is a tape adapter for vhs-c is there such a thing for the hi-8 media or something similar. Thanx All.

    No.

    You cannot play 8mm video or Hi8 video in a VHS/S-VHS VCR. It doesn't work that way.

  3. however in the past their were a few 8mm/hi-8 vcrs made (sony) and at least twice I did see an 8mm-hi8/vhs combo deck if that helps you out at all.

    VHS-C is identical to VHS (same tape width, recorded exactly the same) except that the tape is shorter, so fits into a smaller cassette. The adaptor just makes the cassette mechanically the same size as standard. But to the R/W heads the tape looks exactly the same as VHS. None of this is true of Hi-8.

    I do not know the model number by Sony makes a Digital 8 camcorder that will also play Hi8 analog.
