  1. Hi there,

Before I start with my question, I’ll just explain my situation in order to avoid multitudes of questions.

I download a lot of Subtitled Japanese Anime of Streamload and a bit of mIRC. DiVX is the usual format of most of the Anime series, but I do sometime download OGM.

I leave the files in DiVX or OGM format and I burn them on blank DVDs (leaving them in such compressed formats allows me to put many episodes on 1 DVD).

Now before you ask, no, I do not watch them at my desk, I watch on my TV, in my living using a home computer I made that has a DVD-ROM.

Like most people, I’ll use Media Player Classic in order to watch DiVX and OGM files. In order to view subtitles with OGM files, you need to set the Direct Show Video Output of Media Player Classic to either WMR7 (renderless) or WMR9 (renderless).

I’ve never really had a problem with subs on OGM in the past until now. One of my latest series keeps crashing when I use WMR7 (renderless) or WMR9 (renderless). Now if I don’t use these modes, it won’t crash, but neither will it give me subtitles.

Using VirtualDubMod, I’ve tried converting an episode in Xvid and DiVX, but even after trying different video mode, the resulting file format will still crash if I try to run it with Media Player Classic with WMR7 (renderless) or WMR9 (renderless). So it doesn’t seem to be a file format issue.

Does anyone know a way around this without re-encoding the videos with the subs in filtering?

    Thank you

You could disable MPC's internal subtitle support and use directvobsub which doesn't require VMR7/9.

I'm afraid I don't quite follow you. Could you give me an example of the procedure?
