First, let me point out this is my first post here and although I did look around to try and post to the correct forum, being a newbie, I’m at a disadvantage. So if I’ve posted in the wrong forum, please bear with, and just direct me. Thank you.

I use Windows XP Home Edition, just did a Destructive Recovery--so registry should be at best--have hp DVD Writer 400c and IDE DVD ROM 16x for CD/DVD burner and reader drives. I use InterVideo WinDVD Creator for DVD burning software and/or Nero 6.6.0.16 for burner software. Nero is very powerful software.

Here's the problem for a while now, I burn a file, avi, mpeg, whatever to a DVD+R blank, usually with Creator but lately I'm learning to use Nero, but either one, when I take the burned DVD to my DVD Player to watch it on TV, occasionally, but more and more often, I'll be watching and alls going well the the DVD begins to skp, pause, jump forward, or just freeze. If I take the same DVD into my computer and play it, it’s fine, no problems. Point is, if it plays well on the computer that tells me that whether it's Nero or Creator, the file was burned to the blank ok. Right? So, I'm assuming the problem is with my DVD Player. Right?

Then, what I want to know is there something I'm missing and the problem doesn't necessarily have to be with the Player and it could still be with the software burners (but I say two different soft wares, that's odd)? And if the problem is with my DVD Player, is there a way to specify, to narrow the options down to what the problems may be and fix it, or do I just have to go out and buy another DVD Player?

P.S. If the answer is, “Just go out and buy another DVD Player, then consider this: Rather than spending so much money purchasing DVD blanks at about a $1 a piece and/or purchase another DVD Player, a fairly good one, at about $100 to 200, and Netflix on-line for DVDs at about $35 monthly, maybe I ought to just purchase D-Link Media Player at $185 to $250, which transmit by wireless technology most any file (considering codec) I download to my TV, e.g. I download Stargate SG-1, season #9, episode #1, avi file, go to my living room, grab the D-Link remote, click, pick Stargate SG-1, and watch it on my TV. No more DVD blanks, no more software to burn files to DVD blank, no more $35 to $39 monthly for Netflix. In six months I figure that what I pay for D-Link, I’d break even in what I would’ve paid for all those DVD blanks, Netflix, and a new DVD Player (it seems), and even the hassles (such as what I’m going through now to fix problems related to some of the above items and issues).

Anyway, as pertains to the P.S. above, can anyone provide, along the first issue of DVD Player or Burner, some additional insight into D-Link? But the main question here is above about the problems I currently wonder about between burning soft wares, burner drives, and my DVD Player. That I need to know. In advance, thanks for your help.

Hi mordido and welcome to the forums.

First off, you can't post advocating or promoting Warez, downloading copyrighted TV shows falls into this category and so you may get your wrists slapped by the mods

But getting back to the question, could you let us know what media you are using and on what player. Also, have you tried a selection of different media and tried different stand alone players?

  3. Well now, of course he paid to download those shows, right?

Problem sounds like defective media or bitrate too high. Most likely defective media. Standalone players much more sensitive to this than PC drive, on both issues.
