  1. I see lots of "capture" applications, what I want to find is an application that takes in DV over firewire and plays it full screen on the PC without saving it.

    Any ideas?

WinDV - Even though it's a capture program, still plays the DV without capturing and you can resize the window as you want...

    Ahhh, you didn't stipulate that...

I'm not aware of any dedicated DV cam "players" with controls etc. That'd require the software to have the controls for each (common) DV cam - only something I've ever seen in Adobe Premiere (and probably similar) - but they're only there coz it's a comprehensive capture / edit app, not designed for large screen playback...

    Still, it may exist somewhere...

PlayDV looks like exactly what you need, and it has camera controls. (US$ 19.95 @ riverpast.com)

I also want to quickly watch my DV tapes full screen on my laptop, without having to first import the video with iMovie or other capturing software. Searching the web for such a tool, I came across PlayDV, which looks great, but I'm not on Windows

Do you know of any PlayDV equivalent software for Mac OS X?

CaptureFlux - It's only just been added to the "Tools" section recently, and is freeware for the PC.

I've already given it a go and it displays full screen perfectly. I believe, from memory, that you can control the camera, but I've not tried it out.
