I just installed the Vegas 6.0 (Student Version) on XP and I cannot find it anywhere. I looked in control panel installed program icon and on the Start menu. Also searched my c-drive for vegas. Nothing. Does it have an entirely different name? The Quick Start manual doesn't even show how to start it.

I do have Sonic Foundry Vegas 3.0 LE installed. A possible problem?

  2. Did you check C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas 6.0 ? On the Start Menu - under Sony. If all else fails, Search for Files or Folders and search for Sony.

Hello Solarbleast, You could look in: "START" then click on the "ALL PROGRAMS" <-> Newly Installed software usually is indicated by a HIGHLIGHT...!

If all else fails, go through the motions of re-installing the software, and this tme keep track of the name of the default folder...!

    Cheers....!

Did the above suggestions and nothing exists out there (except re-install). I recall even getting the message that I need to restart the machine for the changes to take affect. Very strange. I'll call Sony in the morning if necessary.

Well, I might try re-install anyway, and see if any goofiness starts to show up with trying to write over something is already there.

I did upgrade Office 93 to 97 right after the Vegas install. It is highlighted.

Well, re-install did the trick. Before getting too far into the install, I checked the C:/program files/sony/ directory and found nothing there, so the first install was bogus. It may be because the install goes in two parts. The second part is Media Mgr. This time it actually appeared, and all went well. I have no idea why the first attempt failed. Vegas 6.0 came up successfully.

I think I understand why the initial install failed. The install is a two part process: 1. install vegas, 2. install media mgr. It needs to continue to part 2 by doing a restart with update. It gave me a choice at the end of part 1 to continue with a restart or not. I think I decided to close some files and maybe send an incomplete e-mail. so I said no. After performing these actions, I did a restart not realizing the install wants to do both. On my second install, I just let'er rip w/o performing the restart myself.
