I wish you had filled out your profile so I could help you
further by knowing EXACTLY what iMac you have?
If you have an iMac G5, take a look at this thread:
Apple Imacs can't mount DVDs"Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

Ok, you have either :
a G4 (tower)
or an iMac?
or both...?!?
Your Specs don't say iMac, they say G4.
While an iMac can have a G4 processor,
commonly when one says " I have a G4"
it refers to the G4 Desktop Towers.
I'll go with your OP and ASSUME you have an
iMac ( with G4 processor) that you are having trouble with.
Can you burn CD-R/CD-RW out of iTunes, and does it
mount and play on the desktop after the burn? If you
eject it from the IMAC and then put it back in,
does it do the same thing as the DVD?
and last, under System Profiler, what does the System
Profiler say as to what model of superdrive you
have in the IMAC? -
imac G4.
Found out it was just cheap DVD-R's i was using. None of them will mount after burning. I burned a good name brand DVD-R and it worked fine again.
Thanks for the help.Mark V
