A friend was in the process of sending me a large (300MB+) MOV file over AOL Instant Messenger, when he had to cancel the process after it was only a little over 1/3 of the way sent. He has since accidentally deleted the file, and it is a video I'd really like to see. Is there any way to repair the MOV file to view the part that I have? It was taken with his digital camera (a Nikon Coolpix 5200, I believe), if that makes any difference.
I have found several AVI and WMV repair tools out there, but I can't find anything for Quicktime. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

The problem with some types of video files are that they need the beginning or the end to set the format. I don't work with MOV files that much, but https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=ASF-AVI-RM-WMV_Repair is one suggested repair tool, though you may have tried it already.
Quicktime Pro may do it also.
One trick I've used occasionally is to append or insert the partial video into a complete video and let the info headers in that video set the format. The other video does have to be exactly the same format, though. This is kind of a long shot, never tried it with MOVs. -
I appreciate the response, but I didn't really have any luck. I do, however, have two other complete videos taken by the same-model camera. So if that can be of any help, someone please let me know.
