Rumplestiltskin has posted an iPod Video tutorial on the tutorials section of VideoHelp (see main index page for the link).

Rumple, I have some questions! I'm sure your tutorial will be very helpful to people who have never used ffmpegX before, but it is slightly light on detail for those of us who have

    1. Why do you call the iPod an "NVI"? Is that some kind of in-joke? Or is your method for 4G pre-video iPods running iPod Linux?

    2. Do you actually have a video iPod? i.e. can you confirm that your output actually works on video iPods? Photos please!

    3. Why did you use PDF instead of HTML

    4. How did the ffmpegX encoding time compare to QT7 on your machine?

    5. Did you try with mencoder (did it work?) or just ffmpeg?

    6. Have you ever tried an input file with 5.1 sound?

    7. Any problems letterboxing 2.35:1 content?

    Cheers,

Apples and oranges: not all MPEG-4 is H.264.
