  1. I have many movies that I ripped and converted to DIVx. Watching them on the pc is getting old and I am converting them to VCD. The problem is that the quality is bad, both video and audio after conversion. Do I need to rip them again to get acceptable quality??

    raptor67,

I've said this time and again, that sooner or later, you'll grow bored of watching
on your pc - it happened to me, when I used to cap StarTrek clips and things.
But I never created in divX due to lowzy quality.

As pinoy said, YES, you'll have to re-RIP them again. But, at least (I hope)
this time, you've gained newer knowledge and can create BETTER quality
CDs this time around. IMO, if you're gonna start this process all over again.
This time, try using greater bitrate, etc so that when DVD writers come down
and the media DVD-RW/R drop too, you'll not have to worry about re-RIPing
all over again for this media, else, at very least, be close to satisfaction with
whatever you decide in your encoding process, and stick to a constant process
so that you don't have various encodes, but just ONE encode for all your
re-RIPs. When these DVD rw/r come down in price, and decide to transfer
all your newly created (re-RIPs) CDs, the process will be easy, and THEN your
encoding process (give or take some new adjustments for DVD rw/r) from that
point on will flow smoothly into the next generation of encoding, etc.

Did I make sense? I hope so!
    I ment well.

Just that soon or later we grow tiresome of watching divX stuff on our pc and
really, its much more exciting to pop in a CD and play on DVD player/TV and
really appreciate the quality - specially if one's TV is larger than 27" - compared
to my 13" - he, he..... But, I get a lot of satisfaction of seeing my CDs play
    in my DVD player/TV viewing

On another note, I've ben experimenting on capturing from DVD. I know I
can get great results from my PVR usb card, but I remember seeing a small
clip somewhere on the Internet, and the quality was outstanding. But, that
could have just ben: the movie, and how the DVD process was done on it, and
maybe a few other odds and ends. But, I'm going to conintue playing around
this this for a while - cause it's fun!

    Later - and good morning/afternoon!
