I just heard a strange claim that when using DVD-RW and DVD+Rw that when you record with DVD-RW that the recording overwrites any previous recording, and that with DVD+RW the recording starts from where the previous recording left off.
    Any basis to this claim?

AFAIK, multisession is available on DVD-R/RW data discs provided you don't finalise the disc. Unfortunately you must finalise the disc for settop players to read it, but I'm pretty sure that unfinalised discs can still be read by a PC. Also AFAIK + R/RW media does not require finalising, so this might explain why this (untrue) claim came to be.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Just a bit more informatio I omitted.
I am talking soley about recording from a stand alone DVD recorder, not with a PC.
How would finalising or not finalising affect either the - or + when recording from a stand alone.
    Hope that's a bit clearer.
