Sooooo, I went out and was looking to buy a copy of Battlefield II. EB Games had a few new and a used copy of the game.
My question is for the used game. Since the game has serial number, can I assume that I CANT play it online because the serial number is already registered to someone else? I ask only because someone had mentioned to me that, when playing online (even when starting your own private lan game, you still have to log into the eb games server in order to play, thus making your "used" serial number invalid.
Is this true or false?
I appreciate the time for whoever answers.
Thank you,
LG

it might work. try to register, it might cancel the previous registration.
I am just a worthless liar,
I am just an imbecil -
As long as the serial number isn't tethered to an email address you should be able to setup a new account. Some companies require an email address upon registration and in order to setup or change any account info a verification of email address is required.
Be aware that alot of newer games you find in bargain bins being sold as used are actually still in use. There are people who buy games, make copies of the media, and return or trade this game to recoup some of their cash. They continue to play the game and you may experience intermittent problems connecting to the game server or find out after a while that your account is cancelled because of the rude activities of the pirate whose software you now own. That bargain game may be worthy of being a frisbee. -
Another issue is this and probably more important, if that copy of BF2 was ever used to cheat and the user was caught you won't be able to use it on servers running punkbuster which is just about all of them.
