  1. I am new at dual layer burning so please forgive me with these newbie questions.
If I set Elby Clonedvd2 to rip at the custom setting should I set this to 9216MB?Is this the total size of a blank dual layer disc?If not then what is the size of a blank disc?
If this is the correct setting then I can just rip it and Clone will write to the dual layer disc inserting the layer break where it is located on the original disc? Will Clone recognize that I have a dual layer disc in the drive?
    Thank you for your time.
    :-)

Why a custom setting. I would let it use the default DL setting.

The best method I've found at least for the very few DL backups I've done is to simply tell DVD Decrypter to Rip to ISO and Burn the resulting ISO. Everything should be identical to your original, layer break and all. Best part is, it is a free tool.

Any other opinions of a better method. I too would be interested.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  3. So if I use the default DL which is for DVD5 only this will rip the entire disc to my dvdr? With it set to DVD5 won't it try to compress the video?

If you use the AnyDVD/CloneDVD combo, you can choose to not include pesky movie trailers and FBI warnings and all that. A delightful feature that is better than a simple bit-for-bit copy, if you ask me.

  5. Why use DVD5 with Clone DVD2, If I'm not mistaken there is an option to Choose DL (DVD9 I think or is that DVDRAM) anyway I've backed up DL DVD's to full size images and Burned them back to a DVD-R DL with no problem.

If your writer is capable of writing to a DL Disk, them CloneDVD2 will know that is if you pick that option.

Personally I don't make allot of DL Disks I just pick DVD5 and remove the Movie trailers and such, I have a 9 year old 27" GE Television and the Quality out put I get with a DVD5 back up is more than enough for me. I'll leave all the uncompressed Eye candy and 6 channel DTS ear candy to the guys that can afford the Toy$

I think this year I move up to a 32" TV
