  1. Hi...

I have a mpg file which is 1hr long but after i authored it and played it through my player only the first 20mins play and then it just freezes...
when i watch it on the computer it plays perfectly....

i tried reconverting the mpg file with tmpg but it would only re-encode the first 20mins aswell and say its complete...

    what's wrong with this?

  2. I would try running it through the Quickstream fix from VideoRedo.

Alternatively you could also try the repair options in MPEG-VCR

The reason I suggest VideoReDo is that they are responsive and will even help you during the 30 day trial. I had some problems (User error) when I was on the trial and they were very helpfull. That and functionality are why I purchased it over Mpeg-vcr. Editing is very easy and customizable. I have seen them help many others during the trial period and they are not afraid to add functionality to let it work with odd mpg streams. I use it to convert and edit .ts to mpeg fro example.

Anyway long story short, It sounds like your mpg file has an error(s) in it and needs to be fixed.

    Good Luck

  4. In the case above where it plays in the computer but will only play 20 minutes on a dvd and TMPGEnc can only convert 20 min. it has to be the file.

The OP states that That TMPGEnc can only convert 20 minutes, that eliminates the burner and associated software and throws the blame 100% on the source file as being damaged, Software players in the computer can often play files that will not convert due to errors in the file.

    Cheers
