  1. Using FCP converting interlaced video to progressive video is pretty straight forward, just use the de-interlace filter.

I've been asked to try and convert some 50fps progressive footage to 25fps interlaced.

    Is this even possible?

I've read of the "VidFire" process/software which does this and which is used to restore film copies of old video programs to look like video.

Is there anything like that available?
Any thoughts suggestion etc most welcome.
    Thanks all.

  2. JES Deinterlacer has a reinterlace command.

For reinterlace you need either two single frame rate movies (half height or full height) or one full height double frame rate movie. In case of two movies you must set the earlier one in the input tab and the later one as "movie 2" in the project tab.

Maybe you could 1st deinterlace the 50 fps movie twice with upper & lower fields so you get two movies from the different fields. Then convert both to 25 fps. Then reinterlace them to a single movie. Or something like that... I believe JES Deinterlacer has all the necessary tools but you just have to invent the right order and combination.
