does Nero 6.6 Burning Rom allow converting mpg to dvd format so I can burn mpg on dvd-r or dvd+r and play on dvd for tv?

Also, let's say I have a 50mb mpg file. When I convert it to a dvd format, what exactly did it do? Did it just convert it so that I can burn it onto a dvdr and watch it on tv? Does it still make it 50mb on a 4.7 gig dvdr or does it make it a bigger file due to the conversion?

It's not like it makes it higher resolutions does it?

Let's hope Nero 6.6 Burning Rom has this option. Please someone verify!

Nero Vision Express does, I think, but not Nero Burning ROM.

Never used NVE, I use TMPGEnc DVD Author or others.

Authoring from the Glossary here <<<:

"Author
To format video into a form ready to burn onto a recordable disc or to stream onto the Internet. VCD, SVCD and DVD Author is to format video into its standard file structure and also add optional menus, chapters, audio tracks, subtitles, slideshows and much more"

If you also look to 'What is' DVD to the left, <<< You will see what the DVD file structure is that the authoring process creates.

The car dvd player that I am looking to buy only plays region 1 dvds.

If I convert

1) my downloaded mpg music videos to dvd format and burn on dvd-r, how does it recognize it as a "region 1" dvd?

2) my vcds (since the dvd player does NOT play vcds) to a dvd format and burn on a dvd-r, how does it recognize it as a "region 1" dvd?
