Assuming you wanted to send it to another Windows user, WMV may be a good format. You may have to reduce the size considerably, depending on their email server limits and if they are using dialup. To send it though, just add it as an attachment to the email.

So the source is a dvd with with vob file(s) ?

You can convert to divx, xvid using autogk,fairusewizard,virtualdubmpeg2 or dr.divx

Or convert to wmv with windows media encoder, it might work just to open the vob or else convert to avi dv with virtualdubmpeg2 and then use wme (or frameserve to wme).

  5. I recorded this clip from tv using my dvd recorder .
when i open the file with window explorer , I get Video-RM and Video-TS files . I suspect I need to copy this dvd onto my hard drive first before I can load it up in the Windows Media Encoder .

How would I copy this dvd to the hard drive .

    Thanks
