Trying to help a friend remotely by phone with his JVC DR-MX1s, but got stuck.

Problem - it is not possible the switch the osd language from French to English (it is currently set to French) The appropriate menu entry for doing so is not available with this dvd/hdd/vhs recorder.

If you compare the French manual (which was included with the recorder) with a downloaded english manual you see that there is a menu entry missing - the one we need.

With the initializing of the recorder the French language was chosen, but it is unclear from the manual how to re- do that. It seems it a once off which I find hard to believe.

so grateful for
a) is there a hidden entry to do so
b) how can one perform a master reset in order to see if osd can be set to english

The recorder was bought in Luxembourg
