I was wandering if I can use tmpgenc for the vcd heder trick. I have a xvid mpeg-4 file but need to change the header in to a mpeg-1. When I try to load the AVI file in tmpgenc nothing happens and at times it just freezes. I used g-spot and have found out that I have the correct codec installed.

If I can't use tmpgenc is there another program or is this even possible with a mpeg-4 file?

I guess in theory it is possible, you would need a PS containing MPEG-4 though, not an avi and if it was to work at all the play would need to be able to decode MPEG-4 anyway so you may as well just use the avi.
