I love star wars films but werent these films just released last September?
Lucasfilm and Fox need to stop milking everybody for just a repackage set wihout the bonus disc. Theres also a rumor about that the prequel trilogy will be coming out the same day in a box set. I saw it on amazon.uk. Heres a link to view the art work

I'm not sure what the strategy is behind just re-packaging the same DVDs minus the bonus disc. But either way I don't see how this is milking anyone. Its not like anyone who has the triology is going to buy this, it has nothing new and one less disc.
This release is obviously for those who haven't purchased the triology yet. I guess they are just phasing out the old box set for some reason.
And I'm sure the prequels will be released in a box set too. It happens with pretty much all triologies. If people have an interest in one they are likley to want them all and its cheaper as a box set.
This is not "yet another Star Wars release," its just a repackaging. Each Star Wars movie has still only had one DVD release. Most other films have at least 2 and sometimes 3 or 4 releases. I don't see anything dubious the Star Wars DVDs. Each one has been chock-full of extras and commentaries...the types of things studios leave out in initial releases so they can double dip by adding them in a SE or DC re-release.
An interesting thing though is that it looks like the dvd covers are using the old official artwork. The artist wouldn't give them the rights to it on the previous release. I wonder what made him change his mind. -
It does say "Special Edition" versions of the fim. Would that mean extra scenes that weren't in the previous trilogy. Or is it just a fancy word they are using for marketing.

And don't forget about the 3D versions coming out soon.
It's all about the money. Nothing else matters...... -
waheed the article says it is just a repackaging of the previous DVDs. Those were the SE version. The original version came out on VHS years ago and Lucas has said they will never be released on DVD or any other format.

Nobody is forcing anybody to give up any funds for this. It's your choice whether or not you want to own every tid bit of Star Wars Relics that are released be it toys, games, or media. If this is nothing new and only the SE minus the bonus disc I guess I won't be at any loss because I will not be a consumer of this product. I already own the SE on DVD. I'd love to the OT in consumer packaged digital glory, but George Lucas chose to modify his art. As the artist, that's his prerogative. It's also the preogative of the marketers to continue to release material in different packaging so people can continue buying. There are 3 different cover arts for the current SE Boxed Set. Do you own all three? If you answered Yes, then I would guess this new SE will also be in your fan memorabilia, but it won't be in mine.
