  1. I've been dealing with an issue that has me puzzeled. I would play my back-ups and recorded DVD's on a # of different recorders. Some would freeze quite often after 20 - 30 mins. I would shut the DVD player off and let it sit for about 20 mins. I could then play the DVD again for another 25 mins. I changed the DVD's I used and even bought newer up-dated DVD players. I still have this problem occassionally and was wondering if this is a common heat problem with DVD players and recorded media. Any solutions ???

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I doubt very much it's a player problem seeing as though you have tried numerous players and the problem still exists. How did you create the DVD's and which media have you used?

You did not say the most important bit of information. What media did youo use. Are your player able to play that particular media such as + or - .
What soft ware did you use to do your ripping and or shrinking. Burning application and burner make and model. All of these may have something do to with the freezing problem you are experiencing though almost always can be atributed to bad media. Even brand name cvan be bad. True, not faked media codes is the only way to determine its origin.

  4. Im using DVDXCopy 4.32 and Tmpeng 1.5. More freezing with the DVDXCopy back-ups. Im using a new Sony recorder and using +R Sony or Memorex disks. I even use a sony DVD player after my Toshiba was constantly freezing on me.

Instead of using DVDXCopy 4.32 use DVD Shrink - the last one that was issued 3.2.0.15 and rip / trnscode you disk to movey only. Set your max file size to 100mgs less than max for DVD 5. Get rid of all audio except the one yoou want such as English 5:1 Backup to ISO and tell it to use DVD Decrypter to Burn. If you do not get a perfectly playing back up with that setup then it is is your media. You did not give the SONY burner's model # There are many! DRU ******

Sony media and Memorex are still bad - Some Memorex + media used to be OK but most sucks big time. Fuji, Maxell, Verbatin, ONLY the made in Japan - not Taiwan discs are some of the best. Or else buy genuine TY made in Japan media from a reputable Web dealer. This should eliminate the media issue.

  6. I had a problem similar to this with an older Sony DVD player. Mine would quit playing after about an hour. If I let the player cool down it would play my DVDRs for about another hour. It turned out to be the DVD player. The player was not rated to play DVDRs so I ended up getting a newer player. No problems with any of my DVDRs after that.
