    Hey,

I live north of Houston but just south of Conroe and a lot of my friends are evacuating. Our family is going to wait and see what the news says tomorrow on the situation. If there's a chance of the eye passing by our house we're packing up and leaving. I was just wondering if anyone on this forum is being threatened by this hurricane.

    Comments??

I think the entire country is being threatened by this storm, another hit on the infrastructure such as what Katrina did could be devestating. I live in the Northeast and being in the home heating industry I have a pretty good idea what the costs are to heat a home in this area. To say the least it was going to be exhobitant before Katrina hit. As it stands now small dwelling is probably looking at a $600 bill per month to heat. Unless they are using coal.

Anyhow Good Luck, and get the f*** out of there if it comes your way.

Go to Austin. Or Lufkin. Or Tyler.
Worst you can do is waste a few days away from home.

I heard on NPR today that there is some sort of big music festival in Austin right now w/ around 70,000 people attending...so their motels are booked.

Edit: Austin City Limits - 2005 Music Festival - Sept 23-25

    Update:

The storm is now gonna go a good ways to the east of us putting us on the "clean" side of the storm. A very good thing since gas is no where to be seen.

If the eye missed you, your problem may not be the wind damage, but with flood and power outage. Ask yourself, would you be OK if you have no power for a week or more. 'cause with the storm that size, there are going to be lots of power down power lines.

We have prepared for a long time without water or electricity. Right now they're predicting 65 mph winds with gusts up to 80-85. Thankfully we've "prepared" for such winds. We'll know for sure by this time tomorrow.
