  1. Hi all,

i am learning to using Toast 6 Titanium to burn DVD's, via the video tab with the DVD-Video option selected.

However, within the data tab, there's a DVD-ROM (UDF) option, which i have tried to utilize without success.

What is the difference and when would i use the DVD-ROM ?

    thanks so much!

They are the same, assuming you're using Toast 6.0.7 or later (the current version is 6.1.1). When using the Data window select New Disc and then drag in the VIDEO_TS folder. You can either add an empty AUDIO_TS folder or Toast will add it automatically when you click the burn button. With the DVD Video from VIDEO_TS option in the Video window you merely add the VIDEO_TS folder and click the burn button.

Either method should get you exactly the same result.

  3. I am using Toast 6.0.5.

    i will try your suggestion.

It is weird, Toast always wants to re-encode the video and audio when try to make the DVD, even though i've already encoded using ffmpegx.

any other ideas are always welcome.

    cheers.

  4. If you have an existing VIDEO_TS folder and follow the instructions from Frobozz - either option - then Toast will not re-encode.

If you just choose the DVD-Video option, Toast will either try to re-encode, or multiplex, or both - depending on how you've encoded. Not everything that comes out of FFMPEG is DVD compliant. Toast is designed to only make discs that adhere to the DVD spec, so that they play in all players.

Toast 7 has an option not to re-encode.

Toast 6.0.5 does not have the option to burn a VIDEO_TS folder in the Video window. You must use the Data window. What people forget is to click the New Disc button before adding the VIDEO_TS folder. There's a sticky at the top of this forum that describes this process.

The Toast update is free. I suggest getting it.
