i've been hearing for a long time about getting around the quality loss that happens when you compress dvd into a 4.7gb dvdr. i was just at the official webboard for pinnacle studio, and the people there are saying that the quality loss that happens when you compress actually doesn't effect the appearence of the video *at all*. this is news to me and i want to confirm it because it will mean a lot when i have problems with my dvds and can rule out that as a factor.

Depends on how much your compressing. I do between 90 and 120 minutes max per dvd (720x480 resolution). After that your gonna see a degregation of quality. You can fit more video on a dvd with great results if your encoding to a smaller resolution depending on your region (Pal or NTSC).
Quality is my policy. -
Go back to the site, and make a note of the name of the poster who gave that information, and also of everyone who agreed with it.
In the future, if any of the people on that list tell you that the sky is blue, stick your head out the window and look up to verify.
That is quite simply one of the dumbest, most illogical, and clearly wrong statements I have heard in a long time.
It's right up there with the downloadable DVD burner.
