LG GSA-4040B------Illegal Disk

Have a A301, the latest firmware. Trying to burn an iso onto a dvd=rw. I get an illegal disk error in Nero.

I am using nero 6.0.0.8.having the same problem whether I burn TS video files or files that have been shrunk with DVD shrink. I have been successfully burning these files and suddenly no matter what I do I get the message 'illegal disk' after 5% of burning. I have tried 4 different types of media without success. I am getting extremely frustrated at the amout of coasters I am producing please please can somebody help

Your DVD burner could only write 1-2X DVD-RW media, you may have used 4X DVD-RW media instead. Also 8X DVD+RW media are not compatible with older burners as well. Use either DVDinfo Pro or DVD Identifier to find out the rated speed of your RW media.

Upgrade your software! I just burned a disc with my 4163B (yes, I still have a 4040B as well) and I got no problems at all. I have Nero 6.6...


A301 was old firmware. The last was A303, I do believe. The 4163B is running off the original firmware and works great...
