  1. To cut the story shorter, the problem I ran into is actually described here under the section: should I use selection VS playlist?
    https://www.videohelp.com/~vitualis/chapters.html
(the picture where after one track is finished playing it will jump back to the entry point that hasn't been begun with)

One way to overcome this is to do following (not completely - there is a GAP in playback though but it does what it's supposed to - what a pain in the butt this program has been)

Create a sequence for every chapter entry. Place the sequences in chronological order (with all the other NEXT, PREV relations also).
Meaining SEQ02 is Chapter02 (event) and then as NEXT place SEQ03 (Chap03 event) and as PREVIOUS SEQ01 (Chap01 event). THEN Manually ENTER the total time for an event to PLAY. So once the END-time is reached it will default to what's NEXT I guess.

Presumably the problem comes from the fact that one may have multiple mpg files instead of just one. (if it were just one it would probably do the same thing but who would care about repeating itself from chapters that have not been begun with; if however NEXT and PREVIOUS is used at any time "the player" will "consider" the events played (begun with) and would not go back to them.

B.T.W this is the best I can think of. Anyone has another thoughts regarding this program (Philips VCD Toolkit)?

    B.T.W another interesting thing happened.

Let's suppose you play a movie authored with VCDEasy and you are already half way into the movie (let's presume chapter 9).
Clicking Next on Remote Will jump back all the way to chapter 02 likely (seen it happen).

In the way I did it above with Philips VCD toolkit that does not happen.

Maybe I should switch to VCDImager - PERIOD.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

B.T.W I intended to post this in S(VCD) authoring.

Also quick question; I used to have one username before this one but I believe it is inactive right now (from the old days when Panasonic MPEG encoder was rated the best because of least blockiness).

Whom I contact in regards to that?

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just to note if anyone is experiencing the GPF at 0003:1E69 in PINK.DLL when using VCDMux with Philips VCD Toolkit, your mpeg file is likely encoded with CCE Basic 2.70 (I run them both at the same time CCE 2.69 and CCE 2.70 if that matters).

I encoded my files with CCE 2.69 (same template) and it worked fine.

    Onto the project question:

Here's the visual Layout. The key thing is that there are few mpeg files (track01.mmd, track02.mmd, etc) that are split into several chapters that make up one event respectively.

    More details:

There is one main menu that has audio track included so it would look like DVD menu. The audio track is mmd or mp2 or mpa file encoded with Tmpgenc (b.t.w. it can either be 128 kbps or 224 kbps).

Problem 1 (regarding Main Menu ONLY not playback of VCD mpeg files):
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Power DVD 4 will play audio correctly on the Main Menu and My KOSS KS2503 standalone player.

KOSS KS2503 however won't respond on any menu selection so I would end up turning PBC OFF. Ok no big deal there since it's just one player.

Power DVD 6 and WinDVD 4 won't play audio correctly (think of a scratched VCD) so I'll just stick to Power DVD 4 (well it's my personal preffered choice anyway).

SO how to fix problem 1 if possible? What would make up spa track so one can try it?
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now onto the Video track organization:

Main Menu is (duh!) on top, but so is on Timeout selection so it repeats if no User Action is initiated.

Under Destination (which I believe would correspond to PLAY BUTTON) I have my Sequence Track 01 which is made up of every single chapter (whole VideoCD that has Video as content, which is made up of 4 video tracks), so the VCD can have behavior like DVD;; PREV, NEXT for each chapter.

Under the Sequence menu NEXT and PREVIOUS contains Main Menu so when VCD is finished playing it will go back to main menu. PREVIOUS is if I want to go back to MainMenu from 1st Chapter in Sequence 1 (kind of logical, right?)

Each Chapter then is also added to the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 track selection under the main branch. 1 However is not only the first chapter but instead I added the Sequence 1 which is the whole CD (I noticed that PLAY doesn't work on all players so I left 1 as an alternative). 2 3 4 and so on can be accesed as a direct jump from main menu.

    Problem 2

Did I do something wrong based on the logic above?

(one strange behavior that I noticed is after I hit Play or press number one on DVD player remote to play entire VCD, Track 1 will be played fully but then player would jump to 2 on selection branch instead of AVSEQ Track 2. More clearly, because of chaptered Track 1, 2 on selection branch corresponds to Track 1 chapter 2, therefore item number 4 on selection branch would actually be AVSEQ Track 2 which should play next based on my Sequence list).

Also in regards to this after Selection Item number 2 in main branch is finished playing the thing would jump back to next selection which is number 3 instead of 4 which also should play next according to my Sequence List.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It looks like I know what is happening here. After each track is played fully the player jumps to 2 3 on selection branch no matter what the Sequence States.

Should I try to experiment with Creating Just One track full VCD?
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lastly, I tested one VCD created with CDDA track (aif used for experimenting although I favor Wav as I am using PC).

TocSplit was able to see it and place it onto the BIN/CUE file. I burned the VCD with burnatonce successfully and I tested it on an CD-R CD player only (some 50$ alarm clock with CD player). This thing won't even play CDRW.

End result; All the VCD tracks were played with some scratchy sound but track 5 was audio and it looks like it played correctly (well I heard my aif file play).

I guess without the splitter.exe utility, which once again is not available anymore, this is not possible.

This DEFINITELY is not a big deal but it looks like it's doable with tocsplit.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Some other questions.

Did anyone retain any programs documents that were available from icdia.org (once again splitter.exe) and also SoX utility mentioned in the guide by baldrick I believe?

There was also one document in word that was describing something in regards to working with power point 97 (creating a slideshow). Did anyone retain that maybe?
