OK I have a bunch of VCD-compliant MPEG-1s that I want to compile into a DVD. What I want to know is what else do you have to do to make these MPEG-1s readable by my DVD Player (I know my DVD player supports these DVD-VCDs because I just saw my brother watch a disc which had 5 full-length movies in it)...

Sorry I'm such a noob with these DVD things T_T

Essentially you only need to convert the the audio from 44khz to 48khz. The VCD video spec is DVD compliant.

How to go about it depends on what software ou have available. What you going to want to make sure of is that the video is not being converted to another DVD compliant spec, that will result in some quality loss and is not needed anyway.

    That is not necessarily true.

MPEG-1 for DVD must have sequence headers before each GOP.
It also requires a GOP length of no more than 18 NTSC or 15 PAL.
You can ignore the length sometimes, but it may or may not play right.
    You cannot ignore sequence headers.

That said, most MPEG-1 VCDs are done to compliant specs.
Most authoring software will reject it if it's not to-spec.

    Be careful not to re-encode.
