This encoder is supposed to support AC3 audio, 2 channel. However, when I insert an mpg movie , with AC3 audio, it says no audio found. Is this true for the trial version, or does only the paid version recognize the AC3 audio file?

tmpgenc dvd author supports ac3. the encoder, tmpgenc, tmpgenc plus does not support it, maybe if ac3 acm or some other ac3 codec is installed. are you going to encode or author?

or are we talking about tmpgenc xpress?

    too much tmpgenc...

Just add your AC3 during the authoring stage, you don't need to encode it anyway. Or you can mux it into the finished video here: Files>MPG Tools>Simple Multiplex. The trial version is the same as the pay version, just has a time limit.

EDIT: I agree about too much TMPGEnc. It's getting harder to figure out which one people are talking about.

Yes, I am referring to the "Express version," as AC3 support is what I need. My movies are in AC3 audio.

You need the AC3 plugin for AC3 support. http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tsp_ac3.html

I just use ffmpegGUI and I mux the converted AC3 in afterwards or if going to DVD, add it during authoring.

I just downloaded their AC3 plugin and it requires validation. It does not accept "test trial ID numbers." These guys really are paranoid.

Yes, they have made it difficult. I just went with ffmpegGUI and refuse to deal with the 'activation' crap. There are other AC3 encoders out there also. Most all of them are 2 channel AC3.

I decided to demux the video, convert the AC3 to PCM, and then re-encode with TmpGenc 2.5. It would be nice to do it all in one shot and keep the AC3.
